The second site: www.wordpress.com is a website to create a free online website with wordpress. If you ever use blogger.com, the same is also available for wordpress. In this site you can create a wordpress website with the address: your.domain.wordpress.com. This site is managed by automatic, the company which is also behind the wordpress CMS. You can register, and directly use wordpress.
But by using wordpress.com you have many restrictions so we cannot use wordpress optimally, unless upgraded in the premium version
So which sites do we use?
In this tutorial I will run wordpress locally (offline) on my own computer, not through wordpress.com. But I also suggest you to register at wordpress.com to see the difference of existing features.
How to Download WordPress
If you access wordpress on a local computer, then you need to use two applications, is wordpress files, and web application + PHP + MySQL server like XAMPP. For how to use XAMPP, I will discuss in the next tutorial.
WordPress files can be downloaded at www.wordpress.org. On this home page there are 2 pieces of download button, namely at the top right, and the middle of the website. Please click one of them. In this example, I will use the button: Download WordPress 4.8. Please click this button, and you will be taken to the page: https://wordpress.org/download/.
