Did you know that WordPress has its own keyboard shortcuts?
If you are looking for productivity tips how to save time when writing posts in
WordPress, then you need to use some of these shortcuts. In this article, I
will share how to use WordPress keyboard shortcuts that can help speed up your
work process.
KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS WORDPRESS FOR VISUAL POST EDITOR
WordPress comes with a modified version of a small MCE
editor. It appears on the Visual tab in your WordPress post editor. It is a
rich text editor with formatting buttons like MS Office. Many beginner level
users use their mouse to access the format buttons and styling in the editor.
Using keyboard shortcuts can certainly make your work faster. If you are a Mac
User then you can use the Command key instead of Ctrl.
Ctrl + b = Bold
Ctrl + i = Italic
Ctrl + c = Copy
Ctrl + v = Paste
Ctrl + x = Cut
Ctrl + a = Select All
Ctrl + z = Undo
Ctrl + y = Redo
Ctrl + [number] = Insert heading sizes, e.g. CTRL + 1 = h1,
CTRL + 2 = h2
KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS WORDPRESS FOR PLAIN TEXT EDITOR
A plain text editor is a simple text editor that appears in
your post editor beside the Visual tab. It has some very basic formatting
buttons and you can see all the html in this text editor. There are only a few
shortcut ways for a plain text editor in WordPress.
Ctrl + c = Copy
Ctrl + v = Paste
Ctrl + x = Cut
Ctrl + z = Undo
Ctrl + y = Redo
Ctrl + p = Print
KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS WORDPRESS FOR SCREEN COMMENTS
If you receive many comments then you can moderate quick
comments using keyboard Shortcuts for comment management. However, this shortcut
is not enabled by default. To enable this keyboard shortcut you need to enable
the setting in Users -> Choose your username and Edit -> check Keyboard
shortcut. Save your profile and return to the comment screen in the admin area.
The shortcuts available are:
J = Next Comment (move selection when descending)
K = Previous Comments (moving during up vote)
A = Approve comment
U = Unapprove comment
D = Remove comment
R = Reply to comment
Q = Quick editing comments
Z = Return Comments from Trash or Undo if you Delete comment
To select multiple comments press X to check this comment
and press the J or K key to move to the next or previous comment. After you've
selected some comments, you can use this keyboard Shortcuts way to perform bulk
actions:
Shift + A = Approve the selected comment
Shift + D = Delete the selected comment
Shift + U = unapprove selected comment
Shift + T = Move the selected comment to Trash
Shift + Z = Restore selected comments from Trash
It may take some time to get used to using keyboard
Shortcuts instead of mouse or touchpad. But in the long run, it will definitely
speed up the work process and help you save time
