"Matt" Mullenweg (born January 11, 1984) is an online media entrepreneur from America, he is a web developer and musician living in San Francisco, California. Matt is famous for developing the very famous web software wordpress, now administered by the WordPress Foundation. His personal blog is ma.tt.
After dropping out of college and working on CNET Networks 2004-2005, Mullenweg quit the job and founded Automattic, the business behind WordPress.com (which provides free WordPress blogs and other services), Akismet, Gravatar, VaultPress, IntenseDebate, PollDaddy, and still much more. And currently Matt Mullenweg is CEO of Automatic.
WHAT IS WORDPRESS?
WordPress was born out of a wish, wordpress originally personal elegant publishing system architecture built on PHP and MySQL programming languages and licensed under the GPL. WordPress is the official successor of b2 / cafelog. WordPress is a modern software for web creation, but wordpress was redeveloped in 2001. It is a mature and stable product. 2003 - Matt Mullenweg and Mike Slightly changed from b2 and created WordPress.
2004 - Plugins introduced with version 1.2 (Mingus).
2005 - Theme System and static pages were introduced with version 1.5 (Strayhorn), followed by powerful caching, a new user role system, and a new UI backend in Version 2.0 (Duke).
2007 - A new UI, autosave, spell check and other new features are introduced in Version 2.1 (Ella). Widgets, improved Feed Atom support, and speed optimization in Version 2.2 (Getz). And tagging, update notifications, pretty URLs (permalink) and the new taxonomy system are introduced in Version 2.3 (Dexter).
2008 - Version 2.5 (Brecker) was released with the administration of the UI (user interface) of Happy Cog design, and introduced the system widget dashboard and the API shortcuts. Version 2.6 (Tyner) builds on 2.5 and introduced Post Revision and Press This. A usability study was conducted at 2.5 during the summer, leading to the development of the Crazyhorse prototype, and finally released Version 2.7 (Coltrane), a redesigned UI administration to improve usability and make admin tools more tailored for users. Version 2.7 also introduces automatic upgrades, built-in Plugins installation, sticky post, new threading / paging / reply and API comments, bulk management, and inline documentation.
2009 - Version 2.8 (Baker) introduces built-in installer themes and improves UI widget and API functions. Version 2.9 (Carmen) introduces image editing, trash or trash / Undo features, bulk update Plugins, and Embed support.
2010 - Version 3.0 (Thelonious) is the main release, introduces custom post types, creates simple custom taxonomy, adds custom menu management, adds new APIs for custom headers and custom backgrounds, introduces a new default theme called "Twenty Ten" some sites (called MultiSite).
2011 - Version 3.1 (Gershwin) introduces post format and admin bar. Version 3.2 (Reinhardt) makes WordPress faster and lighter, this version is enhanced with minimum requirements for PHP 5.2.4 and MySQL 5.0.15, and introduces a new default theme called "Twenty Eleven". Version 3.3 (Sonny) makes WordPress more friendly for beginners with welcome messages and pointer features.
2012 - Version 3.4 (Green) introduces Customizer theme and preview themes. Version 3.5 (Elvin) introduces a new media manager and a new default theme called "Twenty Twelve".
2013 - Version 3.6 (Peterson) introduces a new default theme called "Twenty Thirteen", supports builtin Audio and Video, Dynamic and scalable revisions, autosave enhancements and Post Lock. Version 3.7 (Basie) introduces automatic updates for maintenance and security, strong passwords, better search results and better global support for local versions. Version 3.8 (Parker) introduces a new admin design and a new default theme called "Twenty Fourteen".
2014 - Version 3.9 (Smith) enhances the experience on media and introduced live widgets and preview headers. Version 4.0 (Benny) introduces a grid view for media libraries and for installing plugins, and visual previews for embed content. Version 4.1 (Dinah) makes it easy on the writing, language installation of the Settings section, and the new and beautiful default theme, "Twenty Fifteen".
